Liverpool receive promising update on €100m Mohamed Salah replacement The Egyptian King recently announced that this would be his final season at Anfield and now Richard Hughes and Co have a tough task on their hands. Salah is one of the greatest players to ever play for the club, and his impact over the last decade has been massive. The signings of Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike and Alexander Isak will hopefully offset Salah’s departure in the long-term, but an adequate replacement in his position will have to be signed ahead of next season.

Liverpool receive update on Mo Salah heir Arguably the most talked about name since Salah’s announcement has been Yan Diomande, a player who Liverpool have been monitoring for most of the season. The Reds have sent scouts to assess the 19-year-old on several occasions and their interest has been widely confirmed. Now, a fresh report from Germany has suggested that RB Leipzig are trying to agree a new deal with Diomande, offering a performance-based salary increase to reward the teenager’s excellent season.

Philipp Hinze reported that the new won’t feature a release clause with the Bundesliga club hoping to keep Diomande for another season, but Hinze acknowledges that Diomande is not 'unsellable' this summer. The well-reported figure of €100 million (~£87m) was once again confirmed by Hinze as a starting point, with the asking price liable to increase if there is enough interest. Diomande has become a key figure at Leipzig this season, scoring 11 and assisting eight in 29 appearances and being deployed on both wings throughout the course of the campaign.

€100 million would be a big outlay for a teenager who hasn’t even played a full season of senior football, but Diomande looks like the real deal and if Liverpool don’t swoop they may be beaten to his signature by a rival. Diomande has made his desire to one day play for Liverpool clear and, if he continues his meteoric rise, his price tag will only continue to rise.
