Yahoo Sports

Oklahoma State NCAA qualifier Brayden Thompson entered the NCAA transfer portal as it opened Wednesday. Thompson spent two seasons with the Cowboys but was listed as “unattached” for the 2025-26 season, per WrestleStat . Thompson qualified for the NCAA Tournament as a true freshman in 2024 at 174 pounds.

He went 12-11 overall that year. But the following year, he bumped up to 184 pounds and went 9-0 while in redshirt. Initially, Thompson entered the transfer portal with the arrival of Zack Ryder, who ended up becoming an All-American this season.

However, Thompson stuck around. Thompson did not have any registered matches this season and will have three years of eligibility remaining. He’s projected to be 174 or 184 pounds next year.

The Cowboys had three national champions in 2026 under David Taylor, all true freshmen. Jax Forrest, Sergio Vega and Landon Robideau will be cornerstone pieces of the lineup for the next three years. Forrest won at 133 pounds after enrolling January coming off half of a high school season at Bishop McCort.
