๐ Fifa ranking has a NEW leader; Brazil drop a place The latest FIFA international window brought changes to the hierarchy of world football. With FIFAโs new real-time points update system, France took over as the outright leader of the ranking, climbing two spots. The French capitalized on their wins over Brazil and Colombia, combined with Spainโs slip-up, as they drew with Egypt and lost the top spot.
Argentina, meanwhile, dropped one place and completes the podium of the three best national teams on the planet, according to the FIFA ranking. Brazil, coached by Carlo Ancelotti, finished the friendly window in sixth place. The result represents a drop of one position compared to November 2025.
The situation, however, could have been worse. After the defeat to France last week, Brazil briefly fell to seventh place. A crucial 3-1 win over Croatia, combined with the Netherlandsโ draw against Ecuador, secured their return to sixth place.
Other notable movements: Argentina drops to 3rd: Despite beating Mauritania and Zambia, the current world champions earned few points because of their opponentsโ modest ranking, allowing the French to overtake them. Portugal in the Top 5: With a draw against Mexico and a win over the USA, the Portuguese national team shot up and entered the fiercely contested top five. Updated FIFA ranking Top 10: France โ 1877.
