April Fools' Day: Kansas City Chiefs super fan Eric Stonestreet's memorable character 'Randy Reid' | @EdEastonJr

In honor of the annual practical jokes, hoaxes, and pranks of April Fools' Day, we are taking a trip down memory lane. In a 2022 interview , Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke with Emmy Award-winning actor and Kansas City Chiefs super fan Eric Stonestreet.

During the conversation, Stonestreet explained the origin of his 'Randy Reid' character. "Randy Reid was kind of born five years, six years ago, when a friend of mine, Jerry Collins, one of my collaborators in Los Angeles writer came home — he's a Seattle Seahawks fan — And we came home, and we shot some fun content in the parking lot for the Chiefs. And when we were flying back to LA, Jerry was like, 'What if you came back as Andy Reid's younger brother, Randy Reid?

' And then we just kind of kept working on it, building it, and thinking about, like, what the personality would be," said Stonestreet, "And we kind of landed on his brother, that nobody really likes and everybody just puts up with, but Andy thinks is great, and he thinks everybody thinks Randy is great. So that's where that started. " He's back 😐 @realrandyreid pic.
