USC baseball defeats UCSB 7-6, setting up massive showdown with UCLA

The Trojans will enter this weekend’s massive series with crosstown rival UCLA with a 27-3 record after winning another game Tuesday night

After traveling all the way across the country to face Maryland over the weekend , the USC baseball team returned home to Los Angeles for a Tuesday night matchup with UC Santa Barbara. It was not the prettiest of games from the Trojans, but they were able to survive and emerge with a 7-6 comeback victory. USC fell behind 4-0 early, but the Trojans battled back to score six unanswered runs.

UCSB continued to fight, but ultimately USC held on to win the game 7-6. With the victory, the Trojans improved to 27-3 on the 2026 season. Up next, USC will then travel to Westwood for its biggest series of the season this weekend against crosstown rival UCLA .

The Bruins are currently the unanimous No. 1 team in the country, while the Trojans are a consensus top ten squad. It sets up to be not only the series of the year in the Big Ten, but the biggest Crosstown Showdown in many years.

With the massive series coming up, the UCSB game was a potential trap game for USC, who could have gotten caught looking ahead. While the Trojans did not play their best game of the season, ultimately, they were able to avoid slipping up and kept momentum rolling into this weekend’s showdown.
