2027 5-star Edge explains why he committed to Texas A&M
2027 5-star Edge Zyron Fortall is as elite as they come, explaining why he committed to Texas A&M, citing development and atmosphere.
Texas A&M's now No. 1-ranked recruiting class, per Rivals' updated class rankings, landed its eleventh commitment late Tuesday afternoon, as five-star edge Zyron Forstall, who has been a favorite to land with the Aggies since receiving an early prediction, made things official, and intends to sign with A&M in early December. Joining blue-chip four-star edge Kaden McCarty , who is widely considered one of the more athletic pass rushers with elite potential, Texas A&M's future edge rotation is, on paper, built for future stardom, especially given a quicker development track for high school juniors/seniors before making their way to campus.
If I had to make a comparison for Zyron Forstall's play style, Metallica's classic tune "Seek & Destroy" fits the bill, as the Louisiana native and incoming IMG Academy senior plays like and NFL vet, consistently sifting through blockers to be the first or second defender stopping a rushing attempt, or utlizing his impressive bend and strength to disrupt a quarterback's rythym, or get home and sack the signal caller. After announcing his commitment, Forstall's strong relationship with Texas A&M coach Mike Elko and defensive line coaches Tony Jerod-Eddie and Elijah Robinson sealed the deal. During his conversation with Rivals insider Zach Blostein , Forstall stated that Elko's defensive plan ultimately won his commitment over several blue-blood programs.
"I would say the defense they want to implement me in – it has the Jack position which is a really versatile position," Forstall stated. "I feel like I can utilize all of my skills and talents. I really feel like I can get on the field as soon as possible at Texas A&M.
" In terms of development, the addition of former defensive line coach Elijah Robinson, who returned to his role this offseason after his short stint at Syracuse, has developed a long list of current and future NFL defensive linemen, and Zyron Forstall should be on the fast track to reaching his NFL dreams under Robinson's guidance. "That's another thing: development. I would say coach [Elijah Robinson], I would say he's agreat developer," he stated.
