Chanka Zimba was called up for a friendly against Argentina following his good form with ICTFC.

A Highland-based footballer made his international debut on Tuesday - coming off the bench for Zambia. Inverness Caledonian Thistle striker Chanka Zimba was called up for the friendly against Argentina following his good form with the Scottish League One side. The 24-year-old, who was born in Zambia and grew up in England, has scored 18 goals in 38 appearances for the Highlanders, who currently sit top of the table by a point.

Zimba was named as a substitute in the match against the World Cup champions in Buenos Aires. After the game, Zimba said it was a big moment for him.

He added: "It was exciting and the atmosphere was great. The result wasn't great but it was good to be on the pitch and to try to make a difference. "I will take a lot of learning out of the game.

" He started his successful youth career with Blackburn Rovers and has had spells with Northampton Town, Newport County and Maidenhead before moving North. Argentina were 5-0 winners in the end with Lionel Messi among the goal scorers. Zambia have not qualified for this summer's World Cup finals.
