‘For the love of the game’ – Barcelona loanee Joan Cancelo hints at Benfica move
An interesting quotes from the defender has popped up.

Cancelo is currently on loan at Barcelona from Al-Hilal and is hoping the move can be made permanent after the end of the season.
Barcelona are hoping that they can land Cancelo on a free transfer even though the full-back still has a year left on his contract with the Saudi Pro League club. Yet Cancelo may also have another destination in mind. Some quotes from a new interview with Canal 11 have emerged where the Portugal star makes it clear he’d love to play for Benfica again.
“I’ve already earned more than I expected, but playing for Benfica is like basketball, it’s for the love of the game. I’d be prepared to lower my salary,” he said. It’s a curious little snippet from Cancelo with no other context provided.
The defender has previously stated his affection for Barcelona but obviously still has a lot of love for Benfica after starting his career with the club.
