As Cameron Knupp reports from KeyBank Ice Center, the Sabres took down the Islanders 4-3 Tuesday night. However, former Erie Otter and 2025 NHL draft number one overall pick Matthew Schaefer was able to reach 57 points during his rookie season with an assist for New York. With that assist, Schaefer passed Stefan Persson (1977-78) for most points by a rookie defenseman in franchise history.

Knupp caught up with Schaefer post game on top of talking to fans and a former teammate of Schaefer’s pregame. The Sabres reached 100 points for the first time in a season since 2009-10 and reached 2,000 wins for the franchise.
