Throughout the season, Luka Doncic has been overshadowed by the likes of Victor Wembanyama, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic. That said, the Slovenian star has certainly entered the MVP conversation amidst the Lakers ' impressive run. Entering Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers , the Lakers had won 12 of their last 13 games, including a 19-point win Monday against the Washington Wizards .

During that span, Doncic has been nothing short of incredible. To begin Tuesday's game, Doncic finished the first half with 20 points and now has 35 at the end of the third. With Doncic's 21st point, he broke an all-time Lakers record for most points in a calendar month, passing Kobe Bryant whose previous record stood at 578.

Bryant's record-setting month also came in March, 20 years ago in 2006. Additionally, the record is in spite of Doncic's one-game suspension due to picking up his 16th technical foul of the season. Currently up by over 20 points, if Los Angeles were to earn a victory, it'd mark their 50th of the season, becoming the fifth team to reach that mark this season.
