Prime Video releases trailer for upcoming Jerry West documentary
Jerry West, the legendary former Lakers superstar and executive, will be the subject of an upcoming Prime Video documentary.
When the Los Angeles Lakers moved to the Southland in 1960, it took them a while to gain a following in their new surroundings. But that was the same year they drafted a legendary guard named Jerry West, and he played a large part in putting the Lakers on the map, so to speak, in Southern California. West spent all 14 of his NBA seasons with the Lakers and was one of the greatest and most legendary guards in the history of basketball.
He made the All-Star team in each of his 14 seasons, and he helped lead the team to its first world championship since moving to Los Angeles, which came in 1972. His career regular-season average of 27 points a game still ranks seventh all-time, and his 29. 1 points a game career average in the playoffs is fifth in league history.
Prime Video has just released a trailer for its upcoming documentary "Jerry West: The Logo," which will officially drop on April 16. West, of course, had a second career as an executive that was at least as successful as his playing career. He became the Lakers' general manager in 1982, and during his time in their front office, he presided over six championship teams while building two separate dynasties: the Showtime era and the Kobe Bryant-fueled teams of the 2000s.
He later had front-office stints with the Memphis Grizzlies, Golden State Warriors and Los Angeles Clippers. West died on June 12, 2024, at the age of 86. This article originally appeared on LeBron Wire: Prime Video releases trailer for upcoming Jerry West documentary
