Coming off his dominant World Baseball Classic , Boston Red Sox outfielder Roman Anthony entered the 2026 season with extremely high expectations . Despite being just 21 years old with only 71 Major League games under his belt, many expected him to build on his impressive rookie campaign and emerge as an MVP candidate this year. Those predictions may have been premature, however, as Anthony's sophomore season is off to a sluggish start.
After cracking three hits on Opening Day, he's gone just 1-for-17 with 10 strikeouts over his last four games -- all Red Sox losses.
