Albuquerque Academy’s Hastings wins elite 3,200 at Chandler invite
Anna Hastings of Albuquerque Academy recently won the “Elite” division of the 3,200-meter final at the prestigious Chandler Rotary Invitational in Chandler, Arizona. Hastings, a multiple state champion for the Chargers, completed the race in 10 minutes, 29. 20 seconds.
It is an Academy school record at that distance, and the fourth-fastest 3,200 time in the history of the Chandler meet. She also finished a close second in the 1,600-meter final. Mariah Galbraith of Rio Rancho was third in 3,200 “Elite” race and sixth in the 1,600.
Nicholas Ponte of Academy was fifth in the boys “Elite” 3,200. RAHMER: Eldorado sophomore Gianna Rahmer has missed a few weeks of the current track season as she battles some injuries, but it is expected that she will return to the Eagles for competition soon, perhaps even this week. Her injuries relate to hip and back pain, and it was determined that she should take some time off and heal fully before returning to the track.
