No. 11 Oklahoma snaps three-game skid with win over ORU

The Oklahoma baseball team bounced back from a sweep at the hands of Texas over the weekend with a 4-0 shutout of ORU on Tuesday.

The Sooners needed that one. The No. 11 Oklahoma baseball team snapped a three-game losing streak with a 4-0 win on the road against Oral Roberts on Tuesday night in Tulsa.

OU had come off a sweep at the hands of rival Texas over the weekend and saw their Top-25 ranking fall three spots when the polls released Monday. There wasn't much sexy about the Sooners' win Tuesday, though that hardly mattered. Brendan Brock hit a three-run home run in the top of the first after Trey Gambill and Camden Johnson both walked to start the game, providing OU with all the runs they would need.

Incidentally, it was Oklahoma's only hit of the inning and one of only six it had for the whole game. Their insurance run in the ninth didn't come off a hit, either, as Deitan Lachance plated Brock with a sacrifice fly. Instead, it was the work of Michael Catalano, Nick Wesloski and Isaac Williams that really led the Sooners.

Catalano pitched five innings and gave up just two hits with no walks while striking out seven. Wesloski followed with five strikeouts in his three innings of work and Williams shut the door in the ninth while facing four batters. It might have been nice to score a few more runs, especially against a non-power-conference team, though.
