In a report for The Boston Globe on Tuesday, Red Sox beat writer Tim Healey wrote that Monasterio has been working with outfield coach Kyle Hudson to see if he can be an option there. Monasterio was told about the plan when he made the team, so it's not a surprise to him.

The outfield isn't totally foreign to him, but he's been almost exclusively an infielder to this point. It never hurts to try to learn an extra position and be as versatile as possible, but teaching Monasterio to play the outfield seems like an odd plan.
