JPII boys lacrosse's hot offense improves to 2-0 with win over CCA

Recapping Tuesday's Cape Cod and Islands high school sports action.

The St. John Paull II boys boys lacrosse (2-0) maintained its undefeated start to the season with a 17-3 win over Cape Cod Academy (0-2) on Tuesday. Alex Morin led the Lions with four goals and three assists, while Taylor Richardson pitched in three goals and four assists.

Jake Gargiulo added five assists and three goals. Kelin MacAleese and Parker Philbrick both scored twice and had an assist each. Jacob Smith tallied a goal and Aidan Brennan scored his first varsity goal.

Braden Shortt (two assists), Finn Shortt (one assist), Liam Morrissey (one assist) and Quinn MacAleese (one assist) fueled the offense. The Shortt brothers, Chris Heywood, Ruari Moore, Sebastian Tropeano, Colin Robinson and RJ Teal played solid on defense. Brian Skelly made seven saves in goal.

In other high school sports action: Boys Lacrosse  Nantucket 17, Monomoy 0: The Whalers (1-0) ran to a season opening win over the Sharks (0-2), who are still in search of a victory. Falmouth 20, Dighton-Rehoboth 1: The Clippers (1-0) kickstarted their season with a strong non-league win on the road. Girls Lacrosse Monomoy 19, Bourne 7: The Sharks (1-1) found their way into the win column after falling in the opening game of the season.
