Oviedo gave up six hits, four earned runs and two home runs in 3 2/3 innings of work. Oviedo has primarily been a starter in the big leagues, and started all nine games he pitched in last season. However, right now, the Red Sox have him in a long relief role while Ranger Suarez and Brayan Bello get built all the way up.
Suarez's velocity was noticeably down on Monday night and in his final spring training start. His four-seam fastball averaged 93 mph, 2. 5 mph slower than his 95.

“And just gotta keep working. That’s the most important thing. Obviously with his injuries in the past, something that we have to be very careful in this new role.
