Patriots go with unexpected pick at No. 31 in ESPN's latest mock draft
The Patriots begin the 2026 NFL Draft by taking Florida defensive tackle Caleb Banks at No. 31 overall in ESPN’s latest 2026 NFL mock draft.
Will the New England Patriots opt to take a new defensive tackle at the forefront of their selections in the 2026 NFL Draft? According to ESPN’s Matt Miller, the Patriots elect not to address their needs at defensive end or wide receiver in the first round, but rather go with Florida defensive tackle Caleb Banks with the No. 31 overall pick in the draft.
”Christian Barmore and Milton Williams provide considerable pass rush from the interior, but the Patriots need a nose tackle after losing Khyiris Tonga in free agency,” Miller said. “Banks missed much of last season because of a left foot injury but impressed during the Senior Bowl and combine, showing rare movement ability at 6-foot-6 and 327 pounds with a 5. 04 40.
Banks' power and push in the middle could open things further for Barmore and Williams to rush the passer. ” Miller also had the Patriots taking Arizona State right tackle Max Iheanachor at No. 63 overall, as well as Stanford tight end Sam Roush at No.
95 overall. Iheanachor did not allow any sacks in 2025. He also allowed 14 total pressures on the year.
