Michigan football loses transfer quarterback Colin Hurley

•Yahoo Sports

Michigan football's new coaching staff revamped the quarterback room, but LSU transfer Colin Hurley is no longer with the program.

The new Michigan football coaching staff quickly revamped one of the position groups that, despite having a top-flight player at the top, was woefully underwhelming in terms of depth. The quarterback group, led by Bryce Underwood, obviously had a huge upside with the former five-star leading the charge. But the Wolverines were intent on letting Davis Warren transfer to Stanford, Mikey Keene to transfer to Arizona State, and Jake Garcia to hit the portal.

In turn, the maize and blue brought in two true freshmen (Tommy Carr and Brady Smigiel), LSU transfer Colin Hurley, and Colorado State transfer Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi. However, one appears to be lost, though it's unclear as to why. Per Maize & Blue Review's Josh Henschke, Hurley, the LSU transfer, is no longer with the program.

BREAKING: LSU QB transfer Colin Hurley is no longer with the Michigan program, @MaizeBlueRvw has learned. @On3 @Rivals https://t. co/ugMHUk60OU — Josh Henschke (@JoshHenschke) March 31, 2026 Hurley was pictured in early spring practice pictures and videos put out by the program, so he had been with the team.

Entering his third year, the former four-star was expected to provide competition and depth at the position. But without him, in spring ball, the Wolverines only have Underwood and Carr, as Smigiel is still in recovery from an ACL tear he suffered during his senior year of high school, and with Fowler-Nicolosi not expected to arrive until summer.
