Gavin Stone Inching Closer to Return After Spring Training Setback
Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts gave an update on right-hander Gavin Stone, who began 2025 on the injured list. Stone made one impressive appearance in spring training, striking out two batters in one inning pitched without allowing a baserunner, but took a step back from the team after experiencing soreness in his shoulder. The right-hander missed the tail end of 2024 and all of 2025 after undergoing shoulder surgery.
The Dodgers “dodged a bullet” with Stone’s injury, per Roberts, and said he has begun throwing as he works his way back for a return. “The last I read a couple days ago, he has no symptoms. He’s pain-free,” Roberts said in his postgame press conference Monday .
“He is throwing. I don’t know the distance or when he’s going to be off the mound though. ” Roberts also described Stone’s status as “pre-spring training” when asked about his progression.
