There’s another Eklund making waves in North American hockey. San Jose Sharks’ forward William Eklund’s younger brother Victor Eklund — who was drafted No. 16 overall by the New York Islanders — was assigned to the Bridgeport Islanders this week.

“It’s really fun for him, it’s a good experience for him coming over here and seeing how the game works here on the smaller surface,” William said. “So far, so good, he’s been doing really good, so really proud of him. ” And Victor made an impact immediately, scoring the game-winning shootout goal.

William said he hasn’t seen the particular move Victor scored on from him before, but that it was nifty and a “hell of a shot. ” Victor Eklund with the shootout winner in his AHL debut! How we feelin', @NYIslanders fans?
