The New England Patriots should consider bringing in another veteran pass rusher before the NFL draft at the end of April, and Derek Barnett could be a great fit.

Barnett has been in the NFL for nine seasons, starting his career with the Philadelphia Eagles from 2017 until the middle of 2023. He then moved on to the Houston Texans, where he spent the last 2. 5 seasons of his career.

In his 112 career games, Barnett has tallied 216 combined tackles, 57 tackles for loss and 34 sacks. He also has Super Bowl experience, winning one with the Eagles in 2017. Pro Football Focus ranked Barnett as the 58th pass rusher out of 115 last season, placing him 39th in pass rushing and 55th in run defense.

Thereโ€™s no reason why New England shouldnโ€™t consider bringing in Barnett on a one-year contract, especially since Spotrac recently listed his market value at about $4. 4 million a year. The Patriots need players with Super Bowl experience, since they are now in a window to win it all, and adding a player like Barnett could be a good addition to the roster.
