He also played in the Cape Cod Baseball League, which is arguably the most competitive collegiate summer baseball league. He did enough to become a top draft prospect in 2022 and caught the eye of the Los Angeles Dodgers . They went on to select him in the third round and would start making his way through the minors.
He began the 2025 season in Triple-A, but was called to make his MLB debut on July 30th. He would play in 29 games before being optioned back to Triple-A toward the end of the season. He had a good spring, but he is on the MLB roster because of the injuries to Tommy Edman and Enrique Hernandez. He is now the club's swiss army knife, being able to play second base, shortstop, and third base. Freeland is handling himself well and could be with the big-league club all season long with his defensive versatility, per Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter .
