Yahoo Sports

Tristan Dare committed to the previous staff in August 2025 and visited Ann Arbor earlier this month, but has decided to re-open his recruitment.

Just days after Michigan football landed a commitment from one offensive lineman, it lost one from another. Tristan Dare, a three-star class of 2027 interior offensive lineman from Southlake Carroll High School in Southlake, Texas, shared on social media he was decommitting from the Wolverines . This comes just more than a week after he posted a picture with new coach Kyle Whittingham on his account with the caption, "Great time in Ann Arbor!

" Dare originally pledged to the staff helmed by then-coach Sherrone Moore in August 2025, but Moore has since been fired and offensive line coach Grant Newsome was not retained by Whittingham. Jim Harding is the new offensive line coach under Whittingham. Dare, at 6 feet 3½ and 290 pounds, holds dozens of Division I offers including Ohio State, Oklahoma, Florida and ironically, Utah – Whittingham's former program.

He is listed as the No. 43 interior offensive lineman in the class, per 247 Sports' composite rankings, as well as the No. 105 player in Texas and the No.

741 overall player nationally. The Wolverines had been heating up on the recruiting trail, adding three commitments over the previous week, including four-star offensive lineman Sidney Rouleau , also from Texas. Michigan now has five players pledged to its 2027 class, ranked as No.
