The post Red Wings Sign Augustine; Joining Griffins on Amateur Tryout appeared first on Detroit Hockey Now . Trey Augustine The Trey Augustine era with the Detroit Red Wings is officially underway. The club signed the top goaltending prospect to an entry-level contract on Tuesday.
The contract will kick in with the 2026-27 season. In the meantime, Augustine is joining the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins on an amateur tryout for the remainder of this season. That will lead to a crowded goal crease with 2021 first-round pick Sebastian Cossa and Michal Postava already with the Griffins.
The Red Wings consider all three netminders to have NHL potential. UPDATE: Trey Augustine will report to the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins on an amateur tryout for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. Additionally, Augustine has been signed to a three-year, entry-level contract beginning with the 2026-27 season.
