Florida baseball's Cash Strayer out multiple weeks with hand injury
One of Florida baseball's best young bats is dealing with an injury that will keep him out for the better part of the next month.
Florida outfielder Cash Strayer will be sidelined for the next three to four weeks with a fractured hand , according to Andrew Abadie of the Gainesville Sun. Strayer, a true freshman, has played in 27 of Florida's 29 games this year, including 26 starts. He's manned right field for most of the season after breaking out early.
Head coach Kevin O'Sullivan has kept him in the middle of the lineup, even through a 3-for-39 slump through the first three weeks of March. He was moved to the bottom third of the lineup at the beginning of last week, ultimately exiting on Saturday with the injury. “(Strayer) can hit," O'Sullivan said after Florida swept South Carolina .
"Every single hitter we have gotten from Plant High School has always hit. I'm very good friends with their high school coach, Dennis Braun, and when he calls me and says, ‘Hey, I got this guy that can really hit,’ it's almost like you don't even have to go see the game. " Strayer is slashing .
