Miami coach Jeff Hafley still cheering for Packers’ Micah Parsons, just not as much
New Miami Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley knows he'll face his former team in Green Bay. He just hopes it's before Micah Parsons returns.
PHOENIX – Jeff Hafley knows he’ll play his former team as a rookie head coach with the Miami Dolphins . He just hopes it’s Week 1. It’s no coincidence why.
“There’s a lot of reasons,” Hafley said, knowing one stands out above all others. “There’s a couple I can think of. One of my favorite guys might not be ready to play by then.
” Even Green Bay Packers defensive end Micah Parsons doesn’t expect to be back before the 2026 schedule begins from his torn ACL late last season. After the season, Parsons indicated he could miss the opening month. General manager Brian Gutekunst made clear at the NFL owners meetings the Packers will not rush the All-Pro pass rusher back to the field.
If Hafley takes his new team to Lambeau Field in September, he could avoid the monster he knows well. Hafley saw the havoc Parsons can give opposing quarterbacks as the Packers defensive coordinator last season. As enticing as avoiding Parsons might be, Hafley wishes his former superstar only the best.
