Honesdale's Martin closes out her basketball career with a flourish
Honesdale power forward Ruby Martin put the closed out her varsity basketball career by winning team MVP honors at the NEPA Hoops all-star game.
SCRANTON — The 2025-26 girls high school basketball season officially came to an end March 30 at Marywood University. A big enthusiastic crowd assembled at Insalaco Arena to watch the Lackawanna League battle the Wyoming Valley Conference in the 2nd Annual NEPA Hoops Senior All-Star Game. The contest was an exciting one as college-bound players strutted their stuff one last time for local fans.
And while the score see-sawed back and forth in the early going, the WVC eventually pulled away for a 79-62 victory. Kate Reed of Nanticoke was voted Most Valuable Player for the WVC, scoring a game-high 17 points in the win. The fiery redhead powered her way to 16 points and 10 rebounds en route to Lackawanna League MVP honors. “Ruby played an amazing game,” said Honesdale skipper Joe Reno. “I am very proud of her.
She is a talented young lady. It was really great to see Ruby out there having fun and representing the Lackawanna League so well. ” One last dance Martin is a multi-sport standout who also excels in soccer and track.
