The Huskies are adding a WR from Avon Old Farms. | Twitter/X On Monday, wide receiver Johnny Gingeruha announced on X that he will continue his football career as a UConn Husky this fall. In the Massachusetts native’s final year attending Avon Old Farms in Avon, Connecticut, the 5-foot-10 deep threat was stellar as he helped the Winged Beavers post an undefeated 10-0 record as they won the 2025 New England Class A Championship.
Former Husky player and coach Jon Wholley is the head coach there. This past fall, Gingeruha hauled in 45 catches for a total of 831 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. When it comes to yards per catch, the senior registers 18.
5 yards. On third-down conversions, quarterback Matthew Baer connected with Gingeruha 54% of the time to move the chains. During his time at Avon Old Farms, the wideout has showcased his ability to explode downfield quickly.
He started his career at West Springfield HS in Massachusetts, where he also played basketball and track. After careful thought and decision, I will be committing to The University of Connecticut. Special thanks to God, my family, coaches, teammates and friends.
