Edwards, 24, was missing from the starting five on Monday, March 30 when the Timberwolves visited American Airlines Center in Dallas. The All-Star guard was originally announced as a starter ahead of tip-off, but it was Timberwolves' Mike Conley in his place when the game started.
"I was taking a s---," Edwards admitted to reporters in the locker room, following the team's 124-94 blowout over the Mavericks. He added, "Mike had my back though. " Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch added further context to the situation.
"I mean, nature calls, so," he told reporters. Edwards, who had missed the previous six games with the Timberwolves due to right knee inflammation, came into the game off the bench about two minutes into the matchup. "His defense was outstanding," the coach said. "Just let the game come to him. Stayed aggressive.
