Warriors volleyball team garners 3 of 4 BWC honors for second week in a row
For the second consecutive week, the University of Hawaii men’s volleyball team received three of the four Big West weekly awards, increasing its total for the season to 23. Sophomore Kristian Titriyski was named Offensive Player of the Week, junior Quintin Greenidge was named Defensive Player of the Week, and junior Tread Rosenthal earned Setter of the Week after they helped the Warriors sweep two matches against UC Santa Barbara. Titriyski earned his third honor of the season — his second in three weeks — and the fifth of his career.
Greenidge was honored for the fourth time this season and for the second straight week. Rosenthal picked up his ninth setter award this season — his fifth straight — and the 14th of his career. Titriyski had 18 kills, Rosenthal had 44 assists and Greenidge eight digs in a 25-23, 25-18, 19-25, 25-22 win on Friday.
Titriyski added 11 kills, Rosenthal 33 assists and Greenidge 11 digs in a 25-16, 25-22, 25-13 win on Saturday. UH’s season total of 23 weekly awards is more than double the next highest team (UC Irvine, 10). The Rainbow Warriors (21-3, 4-0 BWC) begin a four-match, 11-day road trip with a two-match series against UC Irvine on Friday and Saturday in Irvine, Calif.
UH remained No. 2 in the AVCA National Collegiate men’s volleyball poll behind UCLA, which received all 25 first-place votes. Long Beach State is No.
3, USC No. 4 and UC Irvine No. 5.
