Freitag, a native of Minnesota, played in just 14 games as a true freshman last season, before entering the transfer portal and ending up at Buffalo. The other two commits in that 2024 class, three-star forward Jack Robison and Italian center Riccardo Greppi, elected to stay a second year at Wisconsin, despite not getting much playing time as freshmen. But Robison became the first Badger to enter the transfer portal this offseason, moving on after averaging 1.

8 minutes in 30 games this season. He’ll have two years of eligibility remaining at his next destination, and the Badgers will now have one more scholarship spot to fill this offseason. Then, over the weekend, Greppi became the second Badger to enter the portal this offseason, putting an end to Wisconsin’s 2024 recruiting class after just two seasons.

Greppi was also a deep reserve this season, averaging only 1. 4 minutes across 14 games. Both Greppi and Robison were facing uphill climbs to crack the rotation in 2026, as the Badgers will have spots to use in the transfer portal and a good core of players projected back.
