Jets' recent activity strongly suggests they'll draft a QB
The New York Jets' recent activity strongly suggests they'll select a quarterback during the 2026 NFL draft.
The New York Jets need a starting quarterback of the future. The team reunited with veteran signal caller Geno Smith to be their starter in 2026 . Smith is a short-term solution acquired to be a placeholder until the Jets find their next franchise quarterback.
The Jets aren't going to draft a quarterback at No. 2 overall during the 2026 NFL draft. Unfortunately, there isn't one worth taking that high.
But the Jets own eight total selections, including Nos. 16, 33, and 44, and current indications are they're going to draft a quarterback at some point. The Jets recently had a private dinner and workout with Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson .
That occurrence was well documented. But Simpson isn't the only quarterback prospect who has spent significant time with the Jets lately. The Jets also had dinner with Miami quarterback Carson Beck prior to his pro day, according to Rich Cimini .
