Wück nominates Germany team for World Cup qualifiers against Austria
Germany coach Christian Wueck attends a press conference at Rudolf Harbig Stadium. Robert Michael/dpa Germany women's national team coach Christian Wück nominated on Tuesday his squad for the 2027 World Cup qualifiers matches against Austria. Hoffenheim forward Selina Cerci returned to the team, but Werder Bremen striker Larissa Mühlhaus didn't make the cut despite a strong debut with a goal in the 5-0 win against Slovenia on March 3.
"In Larissa's case - as we have done with other players - we decided to let her continue gaining playing experience with the under-23 national team," Wück explained. Cerci is making a comeback after missing the first two matches in the qualifiers due to injury. Wück will still be without Klara Bühl (Bayern Munich) due to injury.
Sophia Kleinherne (VfL Wolfsburg) and Bibiane Schulze Solano (Athletic Bilbao) were also not available. According to the German Football Federation, both have resumed team training following their injuries, but aren't fit enough to join the national team. Germany face Austria on April 14 in Nuremberg and again four days later in Ried.
"With the support of our fans, we are confident that we can take the next important step on our journey to the 2027 World Cup," Wück said. Germany tops Group A4 after wins over Slovenia and Norway.
