Despite rescheduling his visit to come to Madison sooner, the Wisconsin Badgers have officially lost the battle for three-star offensive lineman Reilly Newman. Newman announced his commitment to the Iowa Hawkeyes on March 30 , a move Wisconsin likely didn't expect to come so soon into his recruiting process. Back on March 20 , the Ohio native announced he was moving up his Wisconsin visit from June 4-7 to May 28-31.

While it didn't seem like a big deal at the time, the real reason he moved up his visit was to head to Iowa City from June 5-7. Wisconsin scheduled its first visit with Newman on March 3 , but it took less than a month for Iowa to overtake the Badgers and win the battle. The Hawkeyes have had much success getting offensive linemen to the next level, and this year will be no different with the likes of Logan Jones and Gennings Dunker.

Now it's back to the drawing board for Wisconsin, a program that's hungry to add to the five in-state players it already has verbal commitments from in the class of 2027.
