Warriors' win streak comes to end with 116-93 loss vs. Nuggets
After three straight wins, the Warriors suffered a 116-93 loss to the Nuggets on Sunday night.
After a rough stretch on the road, the Golden State Warriors returned to the Bay Area and secured a pair of much-needed victories on the way to a three-game win streak. Yet, when the Warriors went back on the road on Sunday evening, their road struggles picked right back up. The Warriors came out of the gate strong in Denver, outscoring the Nuggets in the first quarter to take the lead in the first quarter.
The Warriors continued to pace the Nuggets in the second quarter, holding on to a seven-point advantage going into the locker room at halftime. However, the second half was a different story. In the third quarter, the Nuggets' offense exploded, outscoring the Warriors 40-21.
The Nuggets remained in control in the fourth quarter on the way to a 116-93 victory over the Warriors. In the second half, the Nuggets outscored the Warriors 70-40. The Warriors had no answer for Nikola Jokic on Sunday night.
The former MVP big man tallied a game-high 25 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field with 15 rebounds and eight assists in a near triple-double performance. Despite Golden State's loss, Kristaps Porzingis continued his strong stretch of play with 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the field with three boards and two assists. Porzingis was hot from beyond the arc, knocking down five 3-pointers on five attempts from deep.
