Ohio State hosts four-star edge, adds to spring guest list

Yahoo Sports

Things are really starting to heat up in Columbus, Ohio as Ryan Day and the Ohio State football team are well into the thick of spring football. The team now has multiple weeks of spring practices behind it, and these have been crucial in helping the coaching staff decide on key position battles. But things will only get busier for the Buckeyes before the seemingly slow down.

The Buckeyes still have more than two weeks until their annual spring game, which is the biggest day of the spring football schedule for Ohio State. This will be the second time this spring Ohio State takes the field in front of fans, the first being Student Appreciation day which Ryan Day and Ohio State just recently announced will take place on April 4. Spring practice sessions bring more than just the current roster of Buckeyes as Ohio State is also playing host to numerous recruits this time of year.

The team opened up the week playing host to another group of prospects, most notably 2027 four-star edge Mekai Brown (Greenwich, CT / Greenwich Country Day) who made a return visit to Columbus on Monday. Back in Columbus Today‼️🌰 @ChadSimmons_ @TomLoy247 @Garrick_Hodge @SWiltfong_ pic. twitter.

com/sYFjLOcFgY — Mekai Brown (@mekai_brown) March 30, 2026 Brown is no stranger to Ohio State and its coaching staff. The Buckeyes have long been targeting Brown, officially offering him a scholarship in September of 2025. The visit was also not Brown’s first with Ohio State.

Brown’s last visit with the Buckeyes was in November of 2025, when the Buckeyes defeated Rutgers and Ohio State left a great first impression of him and shortly after the visit, Ohio State was viewed as legitimate contenders in his recruitment. Ohio State is not alone in its pursuit of Brown who has made multiple spring visits already with the likes of Tennessee, Texas A&M and now the Buckeyes. Schools like Rutgers, Penn State, Florida, USC and Notre Dame are all heavily recruiting him as well so Ohio State will certainly have its work cut out if it is to land Brown.
