Crooksville rally stuns Maysville softball, March 30 top performers
Crooksville, Meadowbrook and Coshocton picked up close wins in the Muskingum Valley League-Small School Division on March 31.
McLUNEY — Down three entering its last at-bat, things looked bleak for Crooksville. The Ceramics wouldn't be denied, however. Kellie Caton's single sent home the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning, as host Crooksville scored four times to secure an 8-7 win against visiting Maysville in a Muskingum Valley League-Small School Division win on March 30.
Maysville took a 6-4 lead with a three-run fifth — Evee Matthews and Lily Tumblin had sacrifice flies — and the Panthers added another when Matthews doubled home a run in the seventh. But Dalena Rollison's double to start the seventh started Crooksville's rally, which was aided by a hit batter and two walks. Harleigh Keirns' two-run single tied it before Caton singled one batter later.
The Ceramics received doubles from five different players, including Keirns, who had three of the team's 12 hits. Baker struck out eight and walked one in a complete game to get the win. Josalyn Milatovich had two singles and Matthews and Tumblin doubled for Maysville.
