Forgotten Celtic midfielder, signed for £2. 6m, set for imminent loan exit Celtic midfielder Odin Thiago Holm is set for an imminent departure this week. The midfielder looks set to return to his homeland in a loan move which is designed to get him back playing regular football, three years after he switched Norway for Scotland.

The 23-year-old was signed from Vålerenga for £2. 6m having been tipped as one of the rising stars in European football. Now, the player is returning to Norway in an effort to get his career back on track after a bruising few years.

Norwegian outlet TV2 have confirmed that Holm is set to sign on deadline day for the remainder of the Norwegian campaign, which runs until December. Holm left Celtic in January 2025 for LAFC and struggled to make an impact before returning to Celtic in December. The player revealed that he has been suffering from a syndrome in his legs, which have impacted upon his ability to realise his potential.

The midfielder scored once and assisted once but it was expected that he would really kick on and offer an alternative view in the midfield.

However, it appears that the player has been suffering for some time with this injury problem. Celtic will be keen for Holm to progress while on loan in order to truly address whether he has a future at Celtic Park. The club have struggled to map any players from prospects into first team figures in recent years with perhaps Matt O’Reilly and Jota as the last examples that has come in, realised their potential and been sold on.
