LeBron James, Bronny James on playing one-on-one against each other

Both LeBron James and his son Bronny told a funny story about a game of one-on-one basketball they played against each other some years ago.

With the Los Angeles Lakers a little short-handed in the backcourt lately, second-year guard Bronny James has gotten some meaningful playing time. Veteran guard Marcus Smart missed their last four games, and Luka Doncic served an automatic one-game suspension on Monday after getting his 16th technical foul in Friday's win against the Brooklyn Nets, opening the door for James. While the 21-year-old hasn't put up significant numbers, he is getting invaluable experience that could help him later on.

After Friday's game, he talked about another experience he had in his personal life some years ago. He said that while playing one-on-one basketball against his father, LeBron, the elder James broke the backcourt. The younger James claimed it happened because he was winning that competition.

โ€œThe last time I played [LeBron] 1-on-1 - I donโ€™t know if this story came out - but he broke a backboard at our house in Miami,โ€ the younger James said. When teammate Austin Reaves asked if it happened because he won, he said yes. The elder James confirmed the story after Monday's 120-101 victory against the Washington Wizards.

"We had a hoop in our driveway, and I drove around him and dunked it," he said. "I didn't mean to shatter the glass, but yeah, I shattered it. " A reporter asked if his son had gotten hot in that game.
