Likely in search of a bigger role elsewhere, Iowa women’s basketball sophomore Callie Levin is entering the transfer portal.

IOWA CITY — Iowa women’s basketball sophomore Callie Levin is entering the transfer portal after two years with the Hawkeyes, she announced March 30 on social media. A 5-foot-9 guard from up the road in Solon, Levin averaged 5. 9 minutes and 1.

2 points per game while appearing in 19 contests. Her role as an energy-option off the bench increased some in her second collegiate season, but it appears this portal entry is a search for more minutes elsewhere. Levin’s biggest contributions came when Iowa’s backcourt was down a player here and there throughout the year.

With Chit-Chat Wright and Kylie Feuerbach missing games during non-conference and right at the beginning of Big Ten play — then later in the immediate aftermath of Taylor McCabe’s season-ending ACL tear on Jan. 25 — Levin appeared earlier in games and more often than she did as a freshman. Levin appeared in 10 of Iowa’s 18 regular-season conference games, as well as two of the three contests at the Big Ten Tournament.

Season-highs in minutes (14) and points (6) arrived in Iowa’s 86-69 win over Western Illinois on Nov. 26. From there, Levin had five points at Rutgers on Dec.
