The Denver Broncos had a lot of questions regarding the roster entering the offseason and the biggest questions may have been at the running back position. After failing to find an effective running game in the AFC Championship Game, many fans felt that it prevented the Broncos from going to the Super Bowl.

The team chose to answer most of those roster questions by re-signing their own players, and that extended to the running back position, where J. K. Dobbins, Tyler Badie and Jaleel McLaughlin all got new contracts.

Those moves raised eyebrows, particularly the decision to bring back Dobbins rather than to look outside the organization for a more durable runner. Recently, general manager George Paton not only talked about why the Broncos brought Dobbins back, but also how easy a decision that was for him. "It was a hip drop, his body didn't break down, he could have played in the Super Bowl.
