One of the Red Sox's goals this offseason was to add an impact bat. Both before and after Alex Bregman's decision to leave, Isaac Paredes was a popular name in trade rumors. The Astros had a surplus in the infield and Paredes made sense as a trade chip.
He is a two-time All-Star and has a club option for 2027. Paredes hit 20 home runs in 2025, but the Red Sox may have caught a break by not acquiring him. He was aware of the trade rumors and told reporters on Monday that he does not see the ball well at Fenway Park.
“I like playing there. I think the fans are awesome there,” Paredes, via an interpreter, told The Boston Globe's Tim Healey. “But truthfully, it’s not a stadium that I can see the ball well (at).
I don’t know why. It’s just difficult for me to see the ball there. ” Paredes is a right-handed hitter who pulls the ball well.
