Four LSU Tigers Listed Among Best Returning Offensive Players
Four LSU Tigers offensive standouts were selected as four of the top returning offensive players in all of college football.
It’s year one for Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers, but the roster doesn’t look like someone starting over. The Tigers have made a sizable investment into their team and it shows. They made a point of keeping the best talent they already had and the bringing in other top players from around the country to fill in the holes.
Pro Football Focus recently went through and ranked the top 10 returning players at every position. As expected, there were LSU stars all over. Four offensive players alone made the cut at their respective positions: TE Tre'Dez Green Not only is Green listed among the best returning tight ends, he’s number one.
There may have been players with more production, but Green has one of the highest ceilings in the country. There were stretches last season where he dominated. Given that the offense has a whole was down, the consistency wasn’t there to match.
The size and speed combination is rare. Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis should have no issue finding opportunities for him to succeed. QB Sam Leavitt It doesn’t appear that he was their first choice, which caused some friction in his recruitment, but the Tigers landed a big fish at quarterback in Leavitt.
