The reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Bantamweight champion was forced to withdraw earlier this year from what was being billed as “ the greatest women’s fight in UFC history ” at UFC 324 after suffering a serious neck injury — a setback that also kept her off the highly anticipated UFC White House card .
Since then, the biggest question has been simple: when will she return ? Now, there’s at least a clearer picture. Harrison recently appeared on Jorge Masvidal ’s Death Row MMA podcast and offered an update on her recovery — and it sounds like she’s trending in the right direction.
“I look like a real assassin now,” Harrison said, referring to the scar from her injury . “I look like someone tried to get me and they failed… I think I’m going to have a CT next week and if all looks good, then I’m allowed to start drilling. A couple weeks after that, I’ll be back to sparring.
Mommy, soon come. ” That timeline suggests a gradual ramp-up, but still leaves some uncertainty. Neck injuries — especially in combat sports — can vary widely in recovery time, and Harrison will still need to rebuild her conditioning and manage the notoriously difficult cut down to 135 pounds .
