Michigan basketball, already in the Final Four, could land five-star combo guard Brandon McCoy for its 2026 class.

Michigan basketball is already on a heater, having dominated the Midwest region of the NCAA Tournament bracket, set to face Arizona in the Final Four on Saturday. But head coach Dusty May isn't just thinking of the here and now, he's working to secure the future. The 2026 class already has five commitments in high four-star power forward Quinn Costello, four-star small forward Lincoln Cosby, four-star shooting guard Joseph Hartman, three-star shooting guard Malachi Brown, and international center Marcus Moller (who was diagnosed with cancer this offseason).

A sixth could potentially be on the way, if a new prediction is right. According to Maize & Blue Review's Josh Henschke , Michigan basketball is in good standing with 2026 Bellflower (Calif. ) Sierra Canyon five-star combo guard Brandon McCoy.

So much so that he put in a prediction that the Wolverines will ultimately land the uncommitted, elite talent. Rivals is the highest on McCoy, having him at No. 11 overall, regardless of position.

Here is the scouting report from 247Sports' Adam Finkelstein : McCoy has evolved into one of the most physically imposing guards in the class. He has good size at just under 6-foot-5, a now powerful build after putting on notable muscle mass within the last year, long arms with an almost 6-foot-10 wingspan, and a combination of speed and power with the basketball that allows him to attack the rim violently in the open floor. McCoy is also one of the very best defenders in the class.
