OU football practice observations: Who's out, who's in during spring?
Here's some of what stuck out to The Oklahoman during Oklahoma football's fourth practice.
NORMAN — Oklahoma football spring practice is in full swing as the Sooners held practice No. 4 on Monday. Here’s some of what stuck out to The Oklahoman : ∎ Wide receivers Jer’Michael Carter and Elijah Thomas, as well as running back Xavier Robinson and offensive lineman Ryan Fodje did not participate in practice.
Carter was on a crutch, while Robinson and Thomas were each in a boot. The players Brent Venables ruled out last week — PJ Adebawore, Tory Blaylock, Trell Harris, Jayden Jackson and David Stone — also didn’t participate. ∎ Wide receiver Parker Livingstone was being tended to on the side and didn’t participate in one-on-one drills.
Linebacker Kristan Moore was off to the side working out during some drills. ∎ OU is trying different things offensively during spring. Colorado State transfer Lloyd Avant was lined up at receiver at times while freshman wide receiver Jahsiear Rogers was being utilized in the backfield.
∎ Brent Venables has been spending the majority of his time during the Sooners ’ first few practices watching the offense, especially the tight ends coached by Jason Witten. ∎ Heath Ozaeta was at right guard for Fodje, who didn’t participate. Starting offensive line on Monday: Michael Fasusi, Eddy Pierre-Louis, Jake Maikkula, Ozaeta and E’Marion Harris.
