Jaguars' Travis Hunter progressing well in rehab from knee surgery

PHOENIX – Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback/receiver Travis Hunter is “very well ahead,” of schedule in his rehabilitation from right knee surgery on Nov. 11 , according to coach Liam Coen. Hunter injured his lateral collateral ligament in practice on Oct.

30 and did not play the rest of the season. Speaking with the Jacksonville media during a break in the NFL’s Annual Meeting at the Arizona Biltmore, Coen said he “cannot say for certain,” if Hunter will be cleared to participate in the team’s organized team activity workouts or mandatory mini-camp in May-June. “I don’t know his timetable-to-return, but he’s very well ahead of where he’s supposed to be,” Coen said.

“I know the (doctors) and athletic trainers feel really good (about Hunter’s recovery). ” Hunter was drafted second overall last April after the Jaguars traded a package that included this year’s first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns. Hunter played in seven games.

He caught 28 passes for 298 yards and one touchdown in 324 offensive snaps and made 15 tackles and three pass break-ups in 162 defensive snaps. After last season, general manager James Gladstone intimated the Jaguars’ needs will dictate where Hunter plays, which is clearly cornerback even after the re-signing of Buster Brown . The Jaguars allowed Greg Newsome to leave in free agency (one-year deal with the New York Giants).
