Twitter reacts to Mo Williams joining Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats

Williams played for the Alabama Crimson Tide in the early 2000s under Mark Gottfried, earning All-SEC honors in his sophomore season, where he averaged over 16 points per game.

Of course, Williams gained more notoriety during his professional career. He was drafted in the second round of that loaded 2003 NBA Draft. He found his footing in Milwaukee and was eventually traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After a few other stops, he landed back in Cleveland and won an NBA championship. During his 13-year NBA career, Williams averaged 13 points and 5 assists per game. Williams got into coaching shortly after his playing career, landing as an assistant coach at Cal State Northridge before becoming the head coach at Alabama State, and has spent the last four seasons as head coach at Jackson State.

His son, Mason, a 4-star prospect in the 2026 class, recently became the first commitment of the 2026 class for Kentucky. Twitter had some thoughts about Williams joining Kentucky’s staff. The 43-year-old Williams could fit well when it comes to player relations.
