After the Mets suffered their first loss, they hit the road for the first time for a three-game series against the Cardinals beginning Monday.

ST. LOUIS — After the Mets were denied a sweep in their first series of the season, they hit the road for the first time beginning on Monday against the Cardinals at Busch Stadium. The Mets dropped Sunday afternoon's finale, 4-3, as Francisco Lindor was thrown out at home in the 10th inning and the middle of the lineup went meekly against the Pirates.

The Mets will begin a seven-game road trip with a 2-1 record. After three games in St. Louis, they will travel for a four-game series against the Giants.

Clay Holmes will make his season debut on Monday night against Cardinals right-hander Kyle Leahy. Brett Baty will be making his first start of his career in the outfield, moving back to right field. Jared Young will make his first start of the season at first base, with Luis Robert Jr.
